Maintenance Utility Technician
About The Position
This is an operations position responsible for checking oil, fluids, and tire pressure and fueling equipment. The technician helps prepare delivery equipment for use, assists the fleet shop as needed, washes trailers according to the FSQA schedule, keeps the parking lot clean, and supports truck-yard organization. The role requires the ability to learn to drive and back up tractor-trailers and straight trucks. The position requires a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience, along with 1–3 months of related experience and/or training. The work includes frequent standing, walking, climbing or balancing, and lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1–3 months of related experience and/or training.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Ability to write simple correspondence.
- Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to written, oral, or diagrammed instructions and solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to learn to drive and back up tractor-trailers and straight trucks.
- Ability to meet the physical demands described, including frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds.
- Currently authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities
- Fuel every piece of delivery equipment daily.
- Check all fluid levels of power equipment daily.
- Assist the fleet shop when needed.
- Work with the fleet shop and night warehouse management to ready equipment for use.
- Wash trailers according to the FSQA schedule.
- Keep the parking lot clean and free of debris.
- Support night truck spotters in organizing the truck yard.
