Maintenance Utility Supervisor
About The Position
The Maintenance Utility Supervisor oversees the maintenance and operation of facility utility systems, including boilers, waste treatment, process plumbing, electrical systems, and water supply. The role ensures these systems operate reliably, efficiently, and safely to support uninterrupted facility operations, and assists the Maintenance Manager with other maintenance duties as needed. The supervisor oversees utility maintenance and repair, the Fiix Maintenance Program, maintenance projects, and maintenance team performance. The role works with cross-functional teams to plan and execute projects while considering production schedules and limiting disruptions. It also supports energy-efficiency and utility-consumption reduction efforts, cost control, SQF implementation, the 5S program, and the company's EEO commitment. The supervisor maintains records and documentation, trains and guides maintenance technicians and utility operators, coordinates responses to emergencies, and enforces safety protocols.
Requirements
- Vocational education or a degree in engineering or a related field; experience may be substituted for education.
- At least 3 years of maintenance leadership experience or experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of boilers, electrical, plumbing, and utility systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for coordinating with diverse teams, external partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities to address maintenance challenges effectively.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing facility with noise, machinery, and potential tripping hazards.
- May be required to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on call to address urgent maintenance issues.

Responsibilities
- Oversee maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of utility systems, including boilers, electrical distribution, process plumbing, and wastewater treatment.
- Oversee the Fiix Maintenance Program and ensure maintenance personnel participate in it.
- Assist with planning and purchasing fixed assets, including all phases of project management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage and execute maintenance and improvement projects while considering production schedules and minimizing disruptions.
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and reduce utility consumption.
- Plan and control costs in coordination with Maintenance Managers.
- Coordinate with the team and other departments to support overall maintenance effectiveness.
- Monitor the maintenance team's progress and performance and ensure qualified personnel are available in all areas of responsibility.
- Ensure active team participation in the 5S program.
- Support implementation and maintenance of the SQF system.
- Support and implement the company's EEO commitment and compliance.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with departments and regularly with personnel.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment manuals, and utility system schematics.
- Train and guide maintenance technicians and utility operators; ensure SOPs, work instructions, and other documents are adequate and maintained.
- Help coordinate responses to emergencies such as power outages, equipment failures, or environmental incidents.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations for maintenance personnel and facility occupants.
- Perform or supervise special projects as assigned and undertake other related duties as required.
