About The Position

Join our team as a Maintenance Trades Worker and assist with maintaining the grounds, interior, exterior, and equipment of county-owned and operated facilities. This role is crucial for ensuring county facilities are safe, functional, and well-maintained. You will be responsible for the cleanliness of building interiors and exteriors, including debris cleaning, restroom maintenance, lamp/bulb replacement, and paint touch-ups. Additionally, you will inspect buildings for safety, test AED batteries, inspect fire extinguishers, and oversee custodial contractors' work. You'll also monitor and refill storeroom supplies, manage flag replacement and disposal, and assist Skilled Trades Workers with projects and repairs. The role involves using gas-powered pressure washing equipment and performing minor building maintenance such as leveling pavers and concrete patchwork. Accurate completion of paperwork for the work order management system is also required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • One year of experience in applicable trade.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License at time of hire.
  • Must be fit tested for a respirator.
  • The successful candidate will be subject to an extensive background check(s) as a part of the hiring process.
  • I-9 Acceptable Documents to show your identity and authorization to work.
  • U.S. Social Security Card (signed, physical card).

Nice To Haves

  • Able to use hand tools, cordless power tools, and lawn equipment (hand blowers)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the building including debris cleaning, maintaining the restrooms, replacing lamps/bulbs, pain touch-ups, etc.
  • Inspect buildings and report all unsafe conditions to the Supervisor.
  • Test AED batteries, and Inspect Fire extinguishers.
  • Inspect custodial Contractors' work, monitor storeroom supplies, and refill.
  • Replace the flag and dispose of it properly.
  • Assist Skilled Trades Workers with projects/repairs.
  • Use of gas-powered pressure washing equipment on building exteriors/hard finishes.
  • Minor building maintenance: level/reset pavers on county property to eliminate trip hazards, concrete patchwork/crack filling, etc.
  • Complete the proper paperwork for the work order management system.
  • On-call required.
