About The Position

The Maintenance Trades Helper supports GDIT’s VLS customers by helping maintain and test MK 41 VLS equipment according to stringent VLS requirements. The role contributes to the National Security mission and performs general maintenance and material-handling tasks under a supervisor’s direction. The position is onsite in Chesapeake, Virginia, with 40 scheduled hours per week and no required travel.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Zero or more years of related experience.
Experience using basic hand tools such as ratchets, drills, and grinders.
Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
Skills in general maintenance, materials handling, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Perform general maintenance tasks, including lifting and moving materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
Load and unload vehicles and assist with related activities.
Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and within worksites as required.
Operate hand and power equipment, including a forklift, for material handling.
Follow established policies and procedures for VLS work.
Perform other tasks under the direction of a supervisor.
Participate in special projects as required.
Help maintain and test MK 41 VLS equipment to applicable requirements.
