About The Position

The Maintenance Trades Helper supports GDIT’s VLS customers by helping maintain and test MK 41 VLS equipment according to stringent VLS requirements. The role performs general maintenance and material-handling work, assists with loading and unloading vehicles, transports materials, tools, and equipment to and within work sites, and performs other tasks under a supervisor’s direction. The helper follows established VLS work policies and procedures, operates hand and power equipment including a forklift, and participates in special projects as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• 0+ years of related experience.
• Experience using basic hand tools such as ratchets, drills, and grinders.
• Skills in general maintenance, materials handling, and teamwork.
• Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance tasks, including lifting and moving materials weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Load and unload vehicles and assist with other work activities.
• Transport materials, tools, and equipment to and within work sites as required.
• Follow established policies and procedures for VLS work.
• Operate hand and power equipment, including a forklift, for material handling.
• Perform other tasks under the direction of a supervisor.
• Participate in special projects as required.
• Help maintain and test MK 41 VLS equipment to meet VLS requirements.
