About The Position

As a Temporary Maintenance Worker (Painter), you will assist the department with painting projects and seasonal facility upkeep. This role focuses primarily on surface preparation, painting, and finishing tasks to maintain the appearance and integrity of buildings and structures. Temporary employment is short term.

Requirements

  • Experienced maintenance person/mechanic with specific knowledge in painting, electricity, plumbing, and carpentry.
  • Physically capable of performing heavy work.
  • Hold a valid Washington State driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups such as management or employees of Sundown M Ranch.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, patients, and the community.
  • Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of Sundown M Ranch requirements and Board of Directors’ policies.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit.
  • Frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward.
  • Continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs on to ladders.
  • Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as a toolbox.
  • Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds such as piping and pool valves.
  • Will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds, and air compressors.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors.
  • Will work near or with moving mechanical equipment.
  • May occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, and sprays and non-household dust.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
  • Frequently will work alone and occasionally will work irregular or extended hours.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, scraping, and patching.
  • Applying paint, stain, varnish, and other finishes to interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Maintaining and repairing painted surfaces on buildings, fences, and other structures.
  • Assisting with color matching and ensuring consistency of finishes.
  • Safely operating and maintaining painting tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Following proper safety procedures, including the use of ladders, lifts, and protective equipment.
  • Assisting with general maintenance tasks as needed, including minor repairs and upkeep.
  • Keeping work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.
  • Completing assigned work orders accurately and efficiently.
  • Assisting with setup and cleanup for maintenance projects.
  • Supporting other maintenance staff on special projects when needed.
  • Other duties as determined and assigned by the Facilities Manager.
