About The Position

The Maintenance & Technology Assistant is responsible for the general upkeep, repair, and safety of all organization-owned facilities, as well as first-line technology support for staff. This role balances hands-on facilities work with basic IT tasks, coordinating with outsourced IT and outside vendors/contractors as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade certifications a plus (HVAC, electrical) but not required
  • 2+ years of general facilities/maintenance experience
  • Basic familiarity with common IT software and hardware setup (Microsoft, Windows/Mac, Apple devices, networking, printers)
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record, reliable transportation for travel between sites
  • Ability to bend and lift minimum of 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied physical conditions
  • Strong communication skills; comfortable interacting with staff, tenants, and vendors
  • Discretion and professionalism appropriate to a hospice environment (may encounter grieving families, patients, or sensitive spaces)
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Computer skills - Knowledgeable and capable in utilizing email, calendars, and spreadsheets
  • Organization and Time Management – Ability to prioritize and follow up efficiently and effectively
  • Reliable means of transportation, valid Texas driver’s license, and automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance across all five properties (AC, electrical, plumbing, lighting, door hardware, landscaping, etc.) to ensure proper facility function and safety.
  • Schedule, Coordinate, and Manage repairs that need outside assistance or a licensed professional, ensuring all issues are resolved and performed work meets expectations.
  • Report any vendor concerns or deficiencies to Director of Operations.
  • Complete minor repairs (drywall patching, painting, fixture replacement, furniture assembly/repair).
  • Coordinate and provide access for outside vendors/contractors for larger repairs (HVAC, electrical, roofing, pest control).
  • Ensure the monitoring/inspection of the life-safety systems (fire extinguishers, exit signage, emergency lighting) and maintain compliance logs relevant to hospice licensure/accreditation standards in collaboration with the Clinical Coordinator.
  • Provide backup for this task if needed.
  • Maintain grounds, parking lots, and exterior building appearance; coordinate landscaping/snow-ice contractors if applicable.
  • Serve as backup for responding to tenant maintenance requests at the Bulverde building per lease terms, and document/track these requests separately from Hope-specific internal work orders.
  • Set up and tear down furniture/equipment for special events, trainings, meetings.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment, maintenance supplies and tools, and keep all supplies, tools, equipment organized and clean in respective storage areas.
  • Track work orders and completed maintenance in a log or software system.
  • Obtain bids for maintenance work if outside vendor/professional contractor is needed. Multiple bids to be obtained and submitted for all work exceeding $2500 per project or annually.
  • Coordinate the setup of phones, iPads, computers, and workstations for new hires; deactivate for staff departures with IT contracted vendor; HR Generalist would be the backup for this task.
  • Assist with maintaining all necessary employee access and logins, submit IT vendor tickets as needed.
  • Troubleshoot minor hardware/software/connectivity issues for staff across all locations.
  • Serve as on-site point of contact for the outsourced IT vendor, escalating issues beyond this role's scope.
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment (phones, laptops/pc’s, iPads, printers).
  • Assist with basic AV setup for meetings/trainings.
  • Manage printer/copier and other electronic/technology devices upkeep (toner, paper jams, basic troubleshooting).
  • Ensure issues are resolved and follow up as necessary with appropriate staff and/or vendors.
  • Supports philosophy and objectives of Hope Hospice.
