Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in related field as well as proven experience in PLC programming, instrumentation and controls is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Results-oriented and a strong sense of urgency / focus.
  • Able to identify failure mode and offer recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • PLC technical certification with at least 2 years’ experience as a PLC programmer.
  • Detailed knowledge of PLC automation software and coding languages.
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Professional appearance and manners.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery, equipment and the facility.
  • Write and install custom programmable logic code (PLC).
  • Test system efficiency and provide operational support.
  • Perform troubleshooting & repairs to machinery and plant support systems with regards to electrical, mechanical hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Complete routine maintenance tasks, inspections & repairs, as assigned through work order and CMMS on production and facility equipment.
  • Display proficiency in troubleshooting and modifications to PLC and HMI applications of automated process equipment.
  • Safely use hand and power tools as well as install machinery, support equipment and structures on all machinery and equipment.
  • Work with team to prioritize work and make efficient use of available time.
  • Forklift, scissor lift, and boom lift operation.
  • Understand and interpret schematic drawings and symbols as well as manufacturers’ manuals and specifications and logic diagrams for pneumatic, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Other duties as required.
