While maintaining a safe work environment, this role performs daily activities that support the production department through timely repair and maintenance of grinding, forming, freezing, and packaging equipment. This position plays a key role in preventing production line stoppages by troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, completing scheduled preventative maintenance, and accurately documenting work within a CMMS system.

Requirements

  • Associate degree (2-year program) in Industrial Maintenance or 1–2 years of relevant experience with strong mechanical and electrical skills
  • Ability to lift 60–80 pounds and perform physical tasks (bending, climbing, reaching)
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions and safely use hand and power tools
  • Comfortable working in cold environments (approx. 40°F production floor; freezer areas at 0°F or below)
  • Ability to work in elevated areas and use ladders
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; receptive to feedback and able to clearly share information
  • Team-oriented with strong work ethic and logical problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage workload, and meet deadlines

Responsibilities

  • Analyze mechanical and operational processing equipment and repair issues using hand and trade tools
  • Repair and maintain production equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems, including opening panels, replacing starters, contactors, and relays, and interpreting schematics
  • Perform preventative maintenance on engines, motors, conveyors, forming equipment, freezers, and packaging machines
  • Follow diagrams, manuals, manufacturer instructions, and engineering specifications for maintenance tasks
  • Demonstrate knowledge of VFDs and PLCs; perform industrial electrical installation, service, repair, and wiring
  • Read and interpret schematic drawings
  • Record labor hours, preventative maintenance, and work orders in a CMMS system
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following PPE requirements and LO/TO procedures
  • Support continuous operation by responding quickly to equipment issues
