About The Position

Are you a hands-on problem solver with a passion for fixing, building, and maintaining? At Crossnore Communities for Children, we’re looking for a Maintenance Technician I or II to ensure our facilities are safe, functional, and welcoming for children, families, and staff. Requirements

  • High school graduate or GED required.
  • Must have a minimum of three years’ prior experience in building/facilities maintenance (preferred).
  • Proficiency in at least two traditional building trades (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, HVAC).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair building systems with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols, including safe handling of chemicals.
  • Competence in preventative maintenance and record-keeping.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing tasks.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • A passion for serving children and the child-serving workforce.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to work locations.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs across various trades, including plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and painting.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance on building systems and equipment.
  • Assist with groundskeeping tasks, including mowing, trimming, and snow removal.
  • Troubleshoot and repair locks, HVAC units, and appliances.
  • Maintain records of completed work and scheduled maintenance.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests.
  • Support renovation projects, including plaster and drywall repair.
  • Monitor and maintain building safety systems, including alarms and mechanical systems.
  • Uphold OSHA safety rules and agency policies.
