About The Position

The Senior Lead Maintenance Technician is a hands-on senior leadership role at Caterpillar in East Peoria, Illinois. The technician leads and supports maintenance technicians during the shift while troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment. The role also coordinates preventive maintenance, prioritizes work, develops technicians’ troubleshooting skills, reviews maintenance documentation, supports equipment improvement projects, and partners with operations to reduce downtime and maintain safe equipment operation.

The schedule is Friday through Monday, four 10-hour shifts, from 10:00 PM to 8:30 AM. The stated pay range is $30.00–$33.00 per hour, including shift differential, based on experience and skill set.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.
• At least 2 years of lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic experience.
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Preventive maintenance experience.
• CMMS experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• PLC or controls experience.
• Automation or building automation experience.
• Technical degree or maintenance certification.
• Equipment installation or maintenance project experience.
• CMM or similar maintenance certification.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support maintenance technicians throughout the shift.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Take the lead during difficult breakdowns and repairs.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance activities.
• Assign and prioritize maintenance work.
• Coach technicians and help develop their troubleshooting skills.
• Review work orders and maintenance documentation.
• Support equipment upgrades and improvement projects.
• Partner with operations to reduce downtime and keep equipment running safely.
