About The Position

Custom Culinary, a subsidiary of Griffith Foods is hiring a Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance Team. The Maintenance Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes and electrical systems equipment to contribute to the production of high-quality food products in compliance with company standards.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or two-year certificate from college or technical school in Electrical Maintenance Technician, Mechatronics, or equivalent program, OR high school diploma with three to five years of related experience specifically with safety, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and PLC programming.
  • Experience handling food production equipment including mixers, fillers, packaging lines, palletizing systems, and bulk delivery systems.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds throughout the shift
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, including the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; and the ability to communicate with individuals and small groups.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Comfort in entering and working in confined spaces.
  • Working knowledge or the ability to gain knowledge of RedZone software.
  • Working overtime as needed throughout the week, up to and including Saturday work.
  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods during the shift
  • Comfortable working with and around allergens and cleaning chemicals
  • Must be able to work onsite in Oswego, IL location
  • Candidates must currently be at least 18 years of age AND possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of Multi craft experience (Electrical and Mechanical)
  • 3 months of experience and/or training in a USDA regulated manufacturing environment
  • PLC experience
  • Welding certification

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspect and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Trouble shooting and repairing equipment by identifying issues with machines.
  • Documenting work orders using CMMS
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains the physical structure of the building.
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as grinder, lathe, drill press, cutting torches or welding equipment.
  • Repairs or fabricates machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Performs PMs (Preventive Maintenance) and PD.M. (Predictive Maintenance) as required and follows up with repairs.
  • Supporting operations with autonomous maintenance, SOP’s and centerline programs for equipment.
  • May operate a forklift or other PIE as required.
  • Follows NFPA 70, LOTO and OSHA Safety rules.
  • Ensure that BRC protocols are implemented and audited as required.
