About The Position

Reporting to the Manufacturing Section Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing mechanical and technical troubleshooting expertise to conduct repair and preventive maintenance of production equipment. This role ensures the continuation of production and the reduction of unscheduled downtime. The position involves a range of duties related to facilities, general maintenance, quality, and administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong team building and communication skills
  • Basic blueprint reading
  • Basic command of the English language and ability to read/write in the English language
  • Computer skills (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Strong knowledge of print reading and machine design
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical systems, bearings, lubrication, drives, sensors, programmable logic controllers (PLC’s), robotics, and vision systems
  • Ability to work around oils and lubricants.
  • Ability to operate a forklift.
  • Ability to stand, bend, stoop, and reach to accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to operate hand-powered lifts, tools, and equipment such as grinders, lathes, etc.
  • Ability to work at above ground level (aerial/scissor lift) to perform electrical or other work.
  • Ability to effectively hold and utilize small hand tools and fasteners.
  • Must be able to visually detect small defects in machine parts or tooling.
  • Must be able to hear buzzers, horns, and/or warning signals emitted by equipment or alarms.

Nice To Haves

  • Continuing Education in maintenance related studies (machining, HVAC, electrical, PLC, etc.)
  • 3 years in manufacturing/industrial maintenance experience with facility responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an OAC Environmental Management System team member, Emergency Response Coordinator, Spill Team Member, and First-Aid Responder.
  • Oversee and coordinate all building maintenance including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Schedule required pick up of hazardous and non-hazardous waste, preparing and submitting required paperwork.
  • Obtain quotes for special projects as assigned relative to facilities or manufacturing maintenance.
  • Coordinate vendors for repair parts, spares, and major repair jobs.
  • Responsible for scheduling and coordinating required testing of (security, fire alarm) systems by external resources.
  • Perform various facility maintenance which could include electrical, plumbing, replacement of lighting fixtures, fabrication/project work, etc.
  • Perform machine troubleshoot, repairs, and coordinate modifications with engineering as needed on production equipment.
  • Perform scheduled preventive/preventive maintenance on equipment.
  • Assist with equipment changeovers as needed to support production and quality standards.
  • Assist with special projects such as equipment moves, work cell set up and equipment installation.
  • Communicate necessary schedule changes for projects to group leaders.
  • Complete scheduled project work according to assigned deadlines.
  • Follow quality procedures and work instructions relative to maintenance.
  • Practice in engineering designs, specialization selections, installations, commissioning, and validation of all equipment.
  • Practice housekeeping requirements in support of 5S effort.
  • Review technical drawings and other reference materials to select and recommend new supplies and maintenance methods to improve manufacturing operations stability.
  • Work to improve preventive/predictive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Develop required reports and provide detailed status updates.
  • Adhere to all third-party certifications related to maintenance.
  • Provide training to applicable staff to support goals and objectives.
  • Complete required paperwork on a timely basis.
  • Adhere to and follow company’s safety policies and procedures.
  • Immediately report any unsafe working conditions or other safety related issues.
  • Wear PPE as required.
  • Practice LO/TO at all times.
  • Develop lock out tag out procedures for new or existing equipment as needed.
  • Adhere to and follow company’s ISO14001 policy as it relates to environmental impact.
