Maintenance Technician (Electromechanical)

Allied Steel Buildings•McGregor, TX

About The Position

The Maintenance Technician (Electromechanical) maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and optimizes integrated electromechanical systems used in structural steel fabrication and secondary-components manufacturing. The role supports the reliability and performance of advanced manufacturing equipment, including mechanical components, industrial electrical systems, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, sensors, variable-frequency drives (VFDs), hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and automated production controls. In a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment, the technician performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical production assets such as CNC machinery, robotic welding systems, automated material-handling equipment, overhead cranes, and production support systems. The position aims to maximize equipment uptime, improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and support safe, efficient manufacturing operations.

  • Minimum of five years of industrial maintenance experience in manufacturing, fabrication, automation, or a related environment is preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting integrated electromechanical systems is required.
  • Experience working independently during equipment breakdowns and production emergencies is required.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Ability to diagnose complex failures involving interacting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, meters, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, hydraulic diagrams, and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to operators, supervisors, engineers, and vendors.
  • Ability to adapt to changing schedules and production priorities.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, climb ladders, and work from elevated platforms.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds independently and handle heavier loads with mechanical lifting equipment.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and around moving equipment while following established safety procedures.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating equipment and handling supplies.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, steel-toe footwear, fall protection, and respiratory protection when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience maintaining automated production equipment, robotics, CNC equipment, or heavy manufacturing machinery is preferred.
  • Experience in structural steel fabrication, metal manufacturing, welding operations, or similar industrial environments is preferred.
  • Vocational or technical training in industrial maintenance, electromechanical technology, or a related field is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on production equipment, automated systems, and facility support equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair failures involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, robotic, and control systems.
