About The Position

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment. This position may require overtime to include weekends and may be required to work off shifts as needed. The role involves maintaining a preventive maintenance program, observing mechanical components to determine the root cause of equipment failure, and documenting all repairs. Duties include dismantling devices, adjusting functional parts, repairing or replacing defective parts, installing special parts, lubricating and cleaning parts, testing performance, and using metalworking tools to make and repair parts. The technician will also initiate purchase orders for parts and machines, interpret specifications and blueprints, and suggest improvements to increase equipment life. The role may require working in other areas of either plant based on production requirements.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Is trained in and follows Company safety policies and procedures and participates in the Continuous Improvement and Corrective Action programs.

Nice To Haves

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a preventive maintenance program.
  • Observes mechanical components with both visual and/or electronic devices in operation to determine root cause of equipment failure/malfunction.
  • Document all repairs on equipment.
  • Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts.
  • Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
  • Initiates purchase order for parts and machines.
  • Interprets specifications and blueprints.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment in order to increase equipment life.
  • May work in other areas of either plant based on production requirements.
  • May be required to work off shifts as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
