About The Position

The Maintenance Technician works closely with the Ancillary Services Director and Executive Director to establish goals, objectives, and standards related to plant operations. This role requires knowledge of department maintenance practices, procedures, safety regulations, and guidelines. The technician is responsible for receiving, following, and ensuring that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined by leadership. They will perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical tasks, as directed and in accordance with established procedures. This includes maintaining lighting systems, inspecting the facility daily to ensure grounds, buildings, and equipment are maintained, and assisting in the safety and security of the premises. The technician will inspect and test equipment on a scheduled basis, ensuring the plant and equipment are properly maintained for comfort, convenience, and safety, operating to manufacturer’s specifications. They will also report and assist in identifying and correcting problem areas, replace equipment as necessary, and maintain an adequate level of supplies. The role involves completing necessary forms and reports, participating in in-service education and training, and adhering to department working hours. Compliance with Universal Precautions, Infection Control Policies, and safe chemical handling is essential. The technician must wear and use safety equipment, keep work areas free of hazards, and ensure proper storage of equipment and supplies. Shipping and receiving tasks may also be performed. The role requires reporting all accidents/incidents, maintaining confidentiality of resident information, and adhering to Resident Rights. Further professional growth and knowledge are encouraged, along with exemplifying high standards of customer service and participating in continuous improvement initiatives. Compliance with regulatory agencies and internal policies is expected. The position requires reporting to work in compliance with schedules and performing other duties as assigned, consistently providing service excellence.

Requirements

  • Knowledge in various mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Ancillary Services Director and Executive Director to establish goals, objectives, standards related to plant operations.
  • Receive, follow and ensure that maintenance schedules are followed as outlined by Ancillary Services Director/Executive Director.
  • Follow preventative maintenance programs of maintaining facility equipment and property, as necessary/approved.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain lighting systems within apartments and common areas.
  • Inspect Heritage on a daily basis to ensure that the grounds, buildings and equipment are maintained in accordance with established policies and procedures and all hazardous areas are properly identified.
  • Assist in the safety and security of Heritage at Falmouth.
  • Inspect and test Heritage equipment on a scheduled basis.
  • Assure that the plant and equipment is properly maintained for comfort, convenience and safety, operating to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Report and assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and equipment, and/or improvement of services.
  • Replace equipment as necessary and approved.
  • Maintain an adequate level of required supplies and equipment.
  • Follow policies that will effectively maintain equipment and supplies for Heritage.
  • Complete necessary forms, reports, documentation as required, submitting such to Ancillary Services Director/Executive Director as required.
  • Participate in programs designed for in-service education, on the job training and orientation classes.
  • Adhere to department working hours and complete assignments within guidelines set by Ancillary Services Department/Executive Director.
  • Adhere to Universal Precautions and Infection Control Policies, including following established hand washing procedures, use of appropriate PPE and supplies when handling infectious materials.
  • Follow established policies governing the use/disposal of PPE and disposal of infectious wastes.
  • Wear and/or use safety equipment and supplies and use proper mechanics while performing duties (e.g., back brace, mechanical lifts, etc.) when moving or lifting heavy objects.
  • Keep work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., grease/oil spills, excess supplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules/regulations are followed at all times.
  • Refer to materials safety when necessary.
  • Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.
  • Ensure that work/assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of work day, etc.
  • Perform shipping and receiving tasks as directed.
  • Perform other related duties and activities as may become necessary or as directed by Ancillary Services Director/Executive Director.
  • Report all accidents/incidents to ACD/ED on the shift on which they occur.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information, including protected health information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of said information and adhere to Resident Rights.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of fraud to the Executive Director.
  • Work to further professional growth and knowledge.
  • Exemplify a high standard of customer service with the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors, and the general public.
  • Participate in Heritage projects and offer input for the continuous improvement of practices.
  • Ensure regulatory agency and internal policy compliance through diligent adherence to practices.
  • Follow Heritage policies and procedures.
  • Understand terms and concepts relevant to job practices.
  • Report to work in compliance with work schedules, or as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
