About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining equipment in excellent working order through preventative maintenance and timely repairs. This role involves diagnosing and fixing machinery issues to ensure production lines run efficiently and safely. The technician will also provide training to operators on machine operation and safety, maintain the cleanliness of the maintenance area, and manage tool inventory. This position requires a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential equipment problems and safety hazards.

Requirements

  • Minimum two years hands-on experience in maintenance or related functions.
  • Minimum two years college or vocational training in this field, or exceptional direct experience.
  • Ability to maintain a safety-first attitude.
  • Ability to ensure operators are operating equipment safely at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum five years hands-on experience in these or related functions for the Maintenance Supervisor (Note: This seems to be a requirement for a supervisor role, but listed under qualifications for the technician role. It's included as stated in the job description).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment according to schedules and checklists.
  • Receive and prioritize repair work orders based on equipment needs and input from supervisors.
  • Perform repairs to restore production lines to operation as quickly as possible.
  • Reexamine machinery after repairs to ensure proper functioning.
  • Inform the Shift Supervisor of any machine problems that affect efficiency, present safety hazards, or require operator reassignment.
  • Keep the Shift Supervisor updated on machine status.
  • Designate and properly shut down any unsafe equipment, ensuring it is placed in a safe condition and operators are informed.
  • Provide ongoing training to operators on machine operation that impacts efficiency or equipment life.
  • Question operators to understand the nature of problems and the conditions under which they occurred.
  • Maintain a safety-first attitude and ensure operators use equipment safely.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the maintenance area.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned tools and manage tool inventory.
  • Clean equipment and work areas as necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
