About The Position

Responsible for maintenance and repairs in any area of the facility. Performs general carpentry, plumbing, minor electrical repairs, vehicle maintenance and repairs, landscape maintenance, occasional housekeeping, and grounds keeping.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • Two (2) years of general building repair and maintenance experience.
  • The Incumbent must hold a valid driver’s license for a minimum of three (3) years and maintain an acceptable driving history.
  • Knowledge of providing tactful and effective assistance to team members, volunteers and patrons.
  • Knowledge of standard administrative practices and procedures, including record-keeping systems and the operation of office equipment, computers, and associated software.
  • Knowledge of practices, methods and terminology related to building maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations, and work-related computer applications.
  • Knowledge of safety principles, practices and equipment related to the field.
  • Skill in mechanical repairs and equipment operation.
  • Skill in general maintenance, including carpentry, plumbing, HAVC, electrical repairs, and painting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Skill in contributing effectively to team and company goals, objectives and activities.
  • Skill in the operation of various hand tools and power tools in a safe and effective manner.
  • Skill in maintaining accurate records of work performed.
  • Skill in critical thinking and the ability to work independently within established policy guidelines.
  • Proficiency in radio communication protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs of building, equipment, and grounds, including painting, plumbing, and electrical work.
  • Complete necessary repairs and maintenance within animal housing areas.
  • Manage event set-up and tear down procedures.
  • Maintain and safeguard maintenance equipment and tools.
  • Conduct inspections to identify necessary internal or external repairs or service needs and coordinate scheduling with the Facilities leadership team.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests received via the work order system or radio.
  • Monitor the inventory of materials and supplies, providing timely order input to the Facilities Manager.
  • Participate in emergency response activities, including investigating and addressing fire and life safety concerns; assist with emergency response training.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
