About The Position

This role involves performing preventative maintenance and repairs on coal handling and conveying equipment. The technician will diagnose equipment failures, conduct routine inspections, and operate various types of equipment, including material handling and heavy equipment, in accordance with safety, quality, and environmental standards. The position requires the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as coordinate with operators and other technicians. Responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical issues, identifying necessary parts and tools, and performing repairs and adjustments on operating units, conveyors, buildings, and mobile equipment. The technician will utilize power tools, hand tools, heating, burning, and welding equipment, and perform rigging as needed. Additionally, the role includes responding to service calls and maintaining housekeeping standards in work and common areas.

Requirements

Experience with preventative maintenance and repairs on coal handling and conveying equipment.
Ability to diagnose equipment failures.
Ability to conduct routine inspections.
Proficiency in operating equipment for repairs and maintenance, including material handling equipment.
Proficiency in operating mobile/powered, and/or heavy equipment for material transport.
Ability to operate equipment in conformance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
Ability to assist operating functions to ensure equipment runs safely.
Ability to work alone with minimum supervision.
Ability to coordinate and work with Operators and Technicians.
Ability to follow instructions for repair, installation, and inspection work.
Skill in inspecting equipment for defects, misalignment, and lubrication issues.
Skill in making repairs and adjustments to operating units, conveyors, buildings, and mobile equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine repair needs.
Ability to notify supervision of mechanical issues and material needs.
Proficiency in using power tools, hand tools, heating and burning equipment, and welding equipment.
Ability to perform rigging.
Ability to answer service calls.
Responsibility for maintaining housekeeping standards.

Responsibilities

Work with maintenance supervisor to schedule routine maintenance.
Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on coal handling and conveying equipment.
Diagnose equipment failures and conduct routine inspections.
Operate equipment in conjunction with repairs/preventative maintenance tasks, including material handling equipment within safety requirements.
Operate mobile/powered, and/or heavy equipment to load/unload, remove and/or transport materials.
Operate equipment in conformance with established standard operating procedures, with respect to safety, quality and environmental requirements.
Assist operating functions as necessary to keep equipment safely running.
Work alone, with minimum supervision, and work with other Maintenance Technicians.
Coordinate and work in conjunction with Operators and Technicians in the performance of maintenance tasks.
Receive and follow instructions on scheduled or emergency repair, installation and inspection work.
Inspect equipment for loose, worn or defective parts; misalignment and improper lubrication.
Make repairs and adjustments for proper operation and maintenance of operating units, conveyors, building and mobile equipment.
Locate and diagnose trouble and determine material and replacement parts/tools needs and most expedient method of making repairs.
Notify supervision of mechanical issues, impending delays to units and assistance or material needs for repairs.
Notify responsible parties for safety, environmental and production requirements.
Use power tools, hand tools, heating and burning equipment, and welding equipment in making repairs, fabrications, assemblies and installations.
Perform rigging as necessary.
Answer service calls.
Initiate and maintain housekeeping to meet or exceed established standards in job areas and in common areas of plant.
