About The Position

The Maintenance Technician will assist the Head of Maintenance with repairs, tasks, and projects. This role involves working independently on delegated tasks, performing basic trade knowledge for minor repairs on outlets, lamps, and plumbing fixtures, and utilizing general knowledge of power tools. Responsibilities include wood floor maintenance, tile installation, window glass replacement, and lock repair/replacement. The technician must be able to perform their role during emergency situations.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of trades to understand repair problems and make minor repairs on outlets, lamps and plumbing fixtures.
  • General knowledge of power tools.
  • Wood floor maintenance and installation of floor tiles.
  • Window glass replacement.
  • Lock repair and replacement.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
  • Push, pull or lift 50 pounds.

  • Continuing education and instructional courses as requested by Head of Maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head of Maintenance on projects when needed.
  • Work independently on projects as delegated by the Head of Maintenance, with occasional supervision/guidance.
  • Use power tools (drills, electric saws, grinders etc.), climb ladders, and utilize proper safety equipment and protocols.
  • Maintain a clean work area during repairs/projects, being mindful of impact to Members and employees regarding noise, smell, and space utilization.
  • Clean up work area at the end of every job.
  • Be willing to arrive early and/or stay later as needed for specific projects/repairs that are time-sensitive or emergencies.
  • Assist the Head of Maintenance in keeping inventory of tools and other assets, and keep the workshop organized and clean.
  • Enroll in and complete continuing education and instructional courses as requested by the Head of Maintenance.
  • Maintain and make general repairs to plumbing fixtures, furniture, woodwork, electrical systems, appliances, elevators, ventilation systems, and building structures of the club.
  • Maintain the air conditioning, refrigerators, and ice makers (if applicable).
  • Install tile, drywall; make grouting repairs, patch walls, and pave brick.
  • Repair small motors.
  • Attend departmental staff meetings.
  • Complete other appropriate assignments made by the Maintenance Engineer/Waterfront Director.
