About The Position

Join our Team! Hawaiian Building Maintenance has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance. Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid Hawaii driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial. Requirements

  • Must pass background check.
  • Must have a valid Hawaii driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • General preventative maintenance experience is required (Basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50lbs (up to 80lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, walk up and down a stairway, climb up/down a ladder and stand throughout their shift.
  • Willingness to learn and improve.
  • Must have basic hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative general maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical (light replacement/ballast, driver replacement), mechanical and HVAC (Change filter, chiller readings and a/c installation), and grounds maintenance.
  • Conducting walk-through with vendors and contractors.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, utilize stairs and elevators, and navigate up and down ladders.
  • Operation of a trash compactor and removal of bins.
  • Ensure all mechanical equipment and systems are functioning properly and repaired as necessary, including: Maintenance and repair of the trash chute, Using a hydraulic jack to relocate trash bins, Replacement of irrigation and sprinkler heads, Replacement and repair of locks, Replacement and repair of light switches, Painting common areas, such as walls, doors, and walkways (including concrete, wood, drywall, and metal).
  • Organization and inventory management of the maintenance shop.
  • Organization and inventory management of the storage room.
  • Coordinating and padding elevators for move-ins and move-outs.
  • Creating and maintaining work orders.
  • Creating and maintaining purchase orders.
  • Performing any additional maintenance-related duties as required by the Hawaiian Building Maintenance supervisor and/or property management.
