About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance, a leading facility service provider in Hawaii since 1957, is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician. This role involves general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment, property structures, and grounds. The technician will report to the Chief Building Engineer or Account Manager-Engineering. The ideal candidate will have previous hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting/drywall, and must adhere to EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations. Excellent communication and the ability to work independently or as part of a team are essential for creating and maintaining safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environments.

Requirements

  • Must pass background check.
  • Must have a valid Hawaii driver's license and a reliable vehicle.
  • General preventative maintenance experience is required (Basic commercial plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall).
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50lbs (up to 80lbs), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, walk up and down a stairway, climb up/down a ladder and stand throughout their shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative general maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical (light replacement/ballast, driver replacement), mechanical and HVAC (Change filter, chiller readings and a/c installation), and grounds maintenance.
  • Conduct walk-throughs with vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure all mechanical equipment and systems are functioning properly and repaired as necessary, including maintenance and repair of the trash chute.
  • Use a hydraulic jack to relocate trash bins.
  • Replace irrigation and sprinkler heads.
  • Replace and repair locks.
  • Replace and repair light switches.
  • Paint common areas, such as walls, doors, and walkways (including concrete, wood, drywall, and metal).
  • Organize and manage inventory of the maintenance shop.
  • Organize and manage inventory of the storage room.
  • Coordinate and pad elevators for move-ins and move-outs.
  • Create and maintain work orders.
  • Create and maintain purchase orders.
  • Perform any additional maintenance-related duties as required by the Hawaiian Building Maintenance supervisor and/or property management.
