About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for our multi-family residential properties in Chicago, IL. This is a full-time position with a pay rate commensurate with experience, ranging from $23.00 to $24.00 per hour. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with on-call duties, overtime, and weekend work as needed. This role involves performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the safety, efficiency, and compliance of residential units and building systems. The position requires a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance, with a focus on preventative measures and emergency response. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for interacting with residents and management.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
HVAC, EPA Universal Certification REQUIRED
Valid Driver’s License
Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.

Nice To Haves

Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

Conduct routine inspections of residential units to identify maintenance and repair needs.
Perform skilled repairs in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliances, and general building maintenance.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical maintenance issues promptly.
Implement a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
Upgrade or replace equipment as needed to maintain compliance with safety and energy standards.
Be available for on-call duty to respond to urgent maintenance emergencies (leaks, outages, HVAC failures).
Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and inventory.
Track and report expenses to management.
Interact with residents courteously and professionally when performing maintenance tasks or responding to service requests.
Address concerns and complete service requests efficiently.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and health standards.
Conduct safety inspections regularly and take corrective action.
