About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for our multi-family residential properties in Chicago, IL. This is a full-time position with a pay rate commensurate with experience, ranging from $23.00 to $24.00 per hour. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:00 pm, with on-call duties, overtime, and weekend work as needed. This role involves performing a wide range of maintenance and repair tasks to ensure the safety, efficiency, and compliance of residential units and building systems. The position requires a strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and general building maintenance, with a focus on preventative measures and emergency response. Excellent communication and customer service skills are essential for interacting with residents and management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • HVAC, EPA Universal Certification REQUIRED
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Proficiency in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general repair.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills for record-keeping and communication purposes.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in residential maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of residential units to identify maintenance and repair needs.
  • Perform skilled repairs in plumbing, electrical systems, HVAC, appliances, and general building maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical maintenance issues promptly.
  • Implement a preventive maintenance schedule to ensure systems operate safely and efficiently.
  • Upgrade or replace equipment as needed to maintain compliance with safety and energy standards.
  • Be available for on-call duty to respond to urgent maintenance emergencies (leaks, outages, HVAC failures).
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, inspections, and inventory.
  • Track and report expenses to management.
  • Interact with residents courteously and professionally when performing maintenance tasks or responding to service requests.
  • Address concerns and complete service requests efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and health standards.
  • Conduct safety inspections regularly and take corrective action.
