About The Position

Microtech Knives is seeking a reliable and hands-on Maintenance Technician to support the daily maintenance, cleanliness, and overall care of our facilities, equipment, grounds, and production environment. This role is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, willing to learn, and comfortable performing a mix of facilities maintenance, janitorial support, lawn care, machine cleaning, and basic equipment care. The Maintenance Technician will assist with general building upkeep, preventive maintenance, cleaning and organization, lawn and grounds care, and basic support for production equipment. This position plays an important role in helping maintain a safe, clean, organized, and productive work environment across the facility. This position combines general maintenance support, facility cleaning, groundskeeping, and entry-level machine care duties based on company needs. The Maintenance Assistant position emphasizes general plant maintenance, simple carpentry, painting, building upkeep, janitorial support, and on-the-job training for mechanically inclined candidates. The Facilities Janitor role adds responsibility for routine cleaning, trash removal, restocking supplies, sanitizing high-touch areas, urgent spill response, and supporting facility upkeep projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanically inclined with a willingness to learn.
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to perform a variety of tasks, including cleaning, lawn care, machine cleaning, and general maintenance.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year of experience in maintenance, facilities, janitorial, groundskeeping, manufacturing, or a related hands-on role.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Basic understanding of factory operations and safety practices.
  • Experience with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, or equipment care.
  • Previous experience cleaning or maintaining production machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general facility inspections and report or address maintenance concerns.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, electrical, HVAC, lighting, and general building maintenance tasks.
  • Perform simple carpentry, painting, repairs, and facility improvement projects.
  • Assist with maintaining doors, windows, flooring, walls, fixtures, and other facility components.
  • Support setup, teardown, and facility preparation for company meetings, events, or department needs.
  • Respond to basic maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Report safety hazards, damaged equipment, or facility concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Assist with cleaning production machines, work areas, and surrounding equipment.
  • Support preventive maintenance activities under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor or senior maintenance personnel.
  • Help clean, wipe down, organize, and prepare machines for proper operation and care.
  • Assist with basic troubleshooting and routine equipment checks.
  • Support machine installation, movement, and startup projects as directed.
  • Help maintain maintenance records, cleaning logs, and completed work documentation as required.
  • Use tools and equipment safely and properly.
  • Follow all lockout/tagout, machine safety, PPE, and company safety procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness of offices, restrooms, break rooms, production areas, walkways, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean assigned areas.
  • Remove trash and recyclables and ensure proper disposal.
  • Restock restrooms and break rooms with soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other needed supplies.
  • Sanitize high-touch surfaces and maintain clean, safe, and presentable spaces.
  • Respond to spills, urgent cleaning needs, and facility cleanliness concerns.
  • Operate janitorial equipment and use cleaning chemicals safely and according to instructions.
  • Maintain a professional standard of cleanliness throughout the facility.
  • Assist with lawn mowing, trimming, edging, and basic landscaping needs.
  • Maintain exterior walkways, entryways, parking areas, and outdoor spaces.
  • Remove debris, trash, leaves, and other outdoor hazards as needed.
  • Assist with seasonal grounds upkeep, including basic weather-related cleanup.
  • Ensure the exterior of the facility remains clean, safe, and professional in appearance.
  • Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and department procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to reduce hazards and support production flow.
  • Use proper lifting techniques and safe work practices.
  • Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, spills, or hazards immediately.
  • Support a culture of safety, accountability, and ownership.
