About The Position

At Frederick Living the Maintenance Technician provides general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds and equipment and provide a welcoming environment for residents, visitors and staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Skill in the care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Required to participate in a weekend and on-call rotation
  • Must be available for emergency calls and work some holidays
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and motor vehicle record meeting insurance carrier standards.
  • Snow removal may be required

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience in maintenance, building operations, or plant services preferred.
  • Technical training in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or carpentry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, and equipment (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, painting).
  • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on systems and equipment, including HVAC filter changes, lubrication, belt replacement, and equipment checks.
  • Respond promptly to residents and staff requests, including lockouts and basic assistance.
  • Assist with inspections and testing of fire alarm systems, fire extinguishers, and other life-safety equipment.
  • Support infection control procedures within maintenance tasks.
  • Adjust doors, locks, closers, thermostats, blinds, and other facility fixtures as needed.
  • Repair/replacement of windows, screens, weather stripping, and door hardware.
  • Assist with carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC projects under direction of skilled staff.
  • Support set-up and tear-down for events (tables, chairs, equipment).
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, passageways, and storage areas.
  • Provide basic pest control (bait stations, traps).
  • Participate in fire drills, severe weather response, and other safety/security inspections.
  • Keep accurate records of preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with necessary tools and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Maintenance Supervisor or Director.
