Maintenance & Repair Technician
About The Position
The Maintenance Technician provides general maintenance and construction support to company-owned and company-managed production facilities, with an emphasis on mechanical work and grounds maintenance. The role also supports plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, electrical work, and machine and vehicle servicing. The technician maintains production equipment and facilities, services the farm fleet, coordinates with vendors, completes required documentation, and follows company safety, vehicle, biosecurity, and animal-welfare policies. The position may require responding to emergencies after normal business hours and traveling among locations, sometimes with an overnight stay.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of general mechanical skills, including general carpentry, welding, electrical work, plumbing, and concrete experience.
- Strong communication, multitasking, problem-solving, and forward-thinking skills.
- Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record.

- Previous experience in plumbing, painting, machine servicing, electrical work, and/or vehicle servicing, or a combination of these.
Responsibilities
- Maintain yards by mowing, controlling weeds, and removing snow at various properties.
- Maintain and organize the shop.
- Perform equipment maintenance, including welding and mechanical repairs.
- Service the farm fleet, including tractors, Bobcats, semis, trucks, trailers, lawn mowers, four-wheelers, and generators.
- Maintain farm inventory such as filters, oil, and repair parts.
- Support field operations and work with custom farming operators as directed.
- Maintain, repair, and rebuild production mechanisms and equipment, including loading chutes, crates, gates, ventilation components, curtains, power washers, and feed and water systems.
- Maintain company-owned buildings and prevent deterioration, including repairing partitions, walls, roofs and roof systems, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, and concrete.
- Perform general and preventative maintenance and repairs on air-conditioning and heating systems.
- Provide general plumbing repair and installation.
- Perform minor electrical repairs and installation.
- Plan and complete new construction, minor remodeling, and ad hoc projects as assigned.
- Meet company documentation and record-keeping requirements.
- Develop and maintain knowledge of procedures and safety measures in plumbing, welding, carpentry, painting, machine servicing, electrical work, and vehicle servicing.
- Coordinate with vendors to obtain parts and supplies and arrange assistance with escalated projects.
- Support the company's animal-welfare policy by promoting animal well-being, addressing circumstances that impede care, and reporting suspected mistreatment or abuse.
- Follow company vehicle policies and applicable local, state, and federal motor-vehicle regulations.
- Demonstrate, promote, and follow company safety policies.
- Know and follow company biosecurity protocols.
- Respond to emergencies after normal business hours when required and remain available while on call.
- Take on additional duties as assigned.
