Novelis – Guthrie, KY is seeking a Mechanical Technician for our green field startup in Guthrie, KY. The Mechanical Technician will play a critical role in improving the reliability of our heavy electro-mechanical equipment. Working in conjunction with operations and other maintenance employees, assisting in troubleshooting systems, coordinating project work, and maintaining equipment functionality. Technicians report to the Maintenance Leader.

Requirements

  • Completed High School or GED. Associates Degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Have Journeyman, Vocational School or Apprentice qualifications.
  • Have a minimum 5 years of mechanical experience in industry.
  • Able to interpret drawings, including mechanical and fabrication drawings, fluid system.
  • Have a working knowledge of basic hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Can analyze production processor part problems and work to devise and implement solutions and improvements.
  • Able to perform basic arc welding.
  • Able to perform basic rigging/lifting.
  • Able to use volt/ohm/milliamp meter and disconnect/reconnect components up to 480V.
  • Ability to work in a team environment toward accomplishment of objectives.
  • Ability to use a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or other business system tools.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Project experience is desirable, including development of Scopes of Work, creation of bid packages, tracking/reporting project status, coordination of contractor activities, monitoring installations and verifying functionality.

Responsibilities

  • Complete work in a safe, timely, professional manner.
  • Analyze production process or part problems and work to devise and implement solutions and improvements.
  • Complete PMs as assigned and documenting in CMMS or other business system tool.
  • Troubleshoot and improve electro-mechanical systems.
  • Oversee projects from scope of work through implementation.
  • Document activities in the CMMS and/or other business system tools.
  • Mentor other craftspeople
  • Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.
