About The Position

This position assists in performing maintenance and service on general tasks required for the care of building, vehicles, equipment, and grounds. The role involves using and updating a work order system for all center requests, performing checks of the facility, grounds, and parking lots, and reporting deficiencies. Key responsibilities include inspecting and repairing light fixtures, troubleshooting basic electrical issues, performing basic plumbing tasks, and inspecting facility roofs. The technician will interact with other departments to understand needs and accomplish tasks. Additionally, the role encompasses total vehicle maintenance for the fleet, tracking daily repairs, maintaining accurate usage and maintenance records, ensuring vehicles are in proper running order, and completing timely inspections. The technician will also make recommendations on vehicle replacement/repair decisions, monitor preventive maintenance actions, approve and route vehicle maintenance and parts invoices, and evaluate cost-effective repair methods, including recommending vendors and service providers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • CDL REQUIRED
  • Valid state driver's license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must provide driving record with zero points and no moving/traffic violations in the past 3 years
  • Requires a general knowledge and aptitude for maintenance/service of vehicles, auxiliary generators, mechanical/electrical and other equipment associated with mobile and stationary needs of blood collection and distribution
  • Basic knowledge of electricity and mechanical devices
  • Must be in good physical health and have willingness to provide services as required
  • Working knowledge of basic tools

Responsibilities

  • Assist in performing maintenance and service on general tasks required for the care of building, vehicles, equipment and grounds
  • Use and update a work order system for all requests of the center
  • Perform checks of facility, grounds and parking lots and report deficiencies
  • Inspect for damaged ceiling tiles as needed
  • Inspect for or repair light fixtures
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical issues
  • Perform basic plumbing tasks (sinks, toilets, drains, etc.)
  • Perform basic inspection of facility roofs as needed
  • Interact with other departments to understand needs and accomplish tasks
  • All other duties as assigned
  • Provide total vehicle maintenance of fleet
  • Track daily vehicle repairs, pending and completed
  • Maintain accurate records of usage, preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance for all vehicles
  • See that all vehicles are kept in proper running order and complete appropriate inspections in a timely manner (including inspection of external lights and trailer lights for vehicles being used on a weekly basis)
  • Make recommendations on vehicle replacement/repair decisions
  • Performs and/or monitors the completion of scheduled and non-scheduled preventive maintenance actions
  • Ensures vehicle maintenance and parts invoices are approved and routed for payment on a weekly basis
  • Evaluate the most cost-effective method to complete vehicle repairs, internal or external
  • Make recommendations or ideas of vendors and service providers
  • All other duties as assigned
