About The Position

Installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in commercial or industrial establishments. This role involves visually inspecting and testing machinery, listening for unusual sounds to detect malfunctions, and discussing machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problems or repair machines. The technician will also dismantle defective machines, install new or repaired parts, and clean and lubricate machinery components. Responsibilities extend to installing and repairing electrical apparatus, laying out and maintaining pipe systems, repairing and maintaining the physical structure of the establishment, and installing, programming, or repairing automated machinery and equipment. The role also includes operating machine tools to repair or fabricate parts, maintaining company trucks and powered equipment, performing monthly preventative maintenance inspections and documentation, and maintaining overhead cranes. Additionally, the technician will operate cutting torch or welding equipment, fabricate and repair wooden structures, and coordinate projects, inspections, and maintenance contracts with sub-contractors. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, and daily email communication is required.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts.
  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
  • Installs and repairs electrical apparatus, such as transformers and wiring, and electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment.
  • Lays out, assembles installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulations, and related equipment.
  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
  • Installs, programs or repairs automated machinery and equipment such as robots or programmable controllers.
  • Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathe, grinder, drill, and milling machine to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs and fixtures, and tools.
  • Maintain company trucks and powered equipment.
  • Perform monthly preventative maintenance inspections and maintain documentation.
  • Maintain overhead cranes including monthly inspections and documentation.
  • Operates cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions and other wooden structures.
  • Coordinate project, inspections, and maintenance contracts with sub-contractors.
  • Able to use Microsoft office including Excel.
  • Able to communicate daily through email.
