About The Position

Valero is seeking a Maintenance Technician for their Ethanol Plant. This role is responsible for the repair and maintenance of plant equipment to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting company policies, goals, and objectives. The technician will participate in the plant maintenance program, perform repairs and replacements on scheduled or emergency basis, and conduct preventative maintenance activities. They will also communicate with production and shipping/receiving departments, collaborate with the engineering department, external contractors, and vendors on new installations, and assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting maintenance issues. The position requires adherence to all city, county, state, and federal regulations related to maintenance and plant equipment, working safely at all times. The role may require overtime or call-ins as needed and participation in plant turn-arounds, cleanliness programs, and Health, Safety, and Environmental programs. Work orders will be assigned and completed as part of the role. This position is hourly nonexempt status, eligible for overtime pay.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Two years experience in the maintenance or repair of industrial equipment (pumps, valves, compressors, conveying equipment, etc.) required.
  • Able and willing to work on-site and in-person required.

Nice To Haves

  • Welding experience on carbon/stainless steel preferred.
  • Experience in the maintenance functions of a dry-mill ethanol plant preferred.
  • Experience in the use of hand and power tools preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the plant maintenance program.
  • Repair or replace plant equipment or systems on a scheduled or emergency basis.
  • Perform preventative maintenance activities as required.
  • Communicate directly with the production and shipping/receiving departments to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
  • Work with the engineering department, external contractors and vendors to implement installation of new equipment or systems.
  • Assist with diagnosing and trouble-shooting maintenance related issues.
  • Assist with new installations and other projects, as requested by supervisor.
  • Know and understand city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment, and work in a safe manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times.
  • Work a schedule that occasionally requires overtime or call-in as required.
  • Participate in plant turn-arounds.
  • Participate in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness.
  • Participate in Health, Safety and Environmental programs.
  • Complete work orders as assigned.
