About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and lubricating all machinery, safeguarding company property, and ensuring all equipment operates at optimal levels. This role involves performing assigned tasks by the Maintenance Team Leader and Plant Manager, adhering to safe and efficient daily procedures, and maintaining various plant systems such as cooling water systems and air compressors. The technician will also be responsible for ensuring proper lockout/tagout procedures are followed, maintaining a clean work area, and being on call for emergencies. Additionally, the role includes supporting operators through training, completing preventative and reactive maintenance logs, creating and executing improvement proposals, and participating in problem analysis and root cause identification. The technician will also work with outside contractors, ensuring they follow proper procedures and complete necessary safety documentation like Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). This role requires the application of chemicals to water systems, consistent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and strict adherence to all safety, environmental, and company standards, including RMA 7S for Success and the RMA Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required or equivalent.
  • Two years experience and technical knowledge in areas of electrical and mechanical maintenance of equipment or military experience in a technical field or Associated Degree in a technical field.
  • Ability to read and interpret manufacturing specifications.
  • Proficient in both electrical and mechanical knowledge and abilities.
  • Basic Computer Skills (Microsoft office, email, etc.).
  • Ability to cover other shifts as needed (Due to PTO or Leave).
  • Strong knowledge of electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience changing out bearing and motors.
  • Forklift license required.
  • Ability to operate scissors and two-man lift.
  • Ability to stand 8 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit, stoop, walk, talk, read and write.
  • Must have agility to maneuver up and down stairs, ladders and in other challenging areas.
  • The employee must have good eye-hand coordination.
  • The employee must be able to occasionally lift up to 75 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Associated Degree in a technical field.
  • Two to 5 years industrial maintenance.
  • Pumping system and Conveyor system maintenance experience.
  • Knowledge of Computerized Management Systems (i.e SAP or Maximo).
  • Strong knowledge of electricity, mechanics, hydraulics, and/or pneumatics in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience changing out bearing and motors.
  • PLC and automated systems education and/or experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform safe and efficient machine and daily procedures.
  • Maintain cooling water systems to mills, Bunbury's and other machinery in the plant.
  • Inspect and maintain air compressors.
  • Ensure all lockout/tagout procedures are being followed properly when working on equipment.
  • Maintain a clean work area to reduce safety hazards.
  • Remain on call for emergencies.
  • Support operators by providing training.
  • Complete preventative maintenance work orders and reactive maintenance repair logs.
  • Create improvement proposals and execute tasks resulting from improvement proposals.
  • Complete administrative tasks as needed.
  • Participate in problem analysis, identification of root causes, and suitable permanent solutions.
  • Work with outside contractors as needed and ensure they follow the proper sign-in and out procedures.
  • Ensure a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is completed when needed by outside contractors.
  • Add chemicals to water in pump house as needed.
  • Wear Personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain company safety, housekeeping and environmental standards.
  • Apply the RMA 7S for Success standards to work area and all tasks.
  • Uphold the RMA Code of Conduct standards.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager and Plant Manager.
