Maintenance Technician 1st Shift
About The Position
Pratt Industries is hiring a first-shift Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair machinery used to convert recycled paper into corrugated boxes. Maintenance Technicians are multi-craft professionals who support the safe and effective operation of the facility. Pay starts at $23–$35 per hour, based on experience and assessment, with defined steps for promotion and pay increases. The role involves troubleshooting and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Candidates should have knowledge of three-phase electricity, motors and motor starters, gearboxes, PLCs, and VFDs. The position has physical requirements that include standing, walking, using hands and arms, bending or crawling, and lifting materials. Pratt provides a rolling tool cart, a Fluke T6-1000 multimeter, required power tools, and specialty tools.
Requirements
- Troubleshooting experience with three-phase power/electricity.
- Knowledge of AC/DC motors and motor starters.
- Knowledge of gearboxes or gear reducers.
- Basic working knowledge of PLCs.
- Basic working knowledge of VFDs.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems.
- Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read a tape measure quickly and accurately and apply high school mathematics.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or graphic instructions using common-sense reasoning.
- Ability to meet the stated physical demands, including regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving up to 100 pounds with another worker’s assistance.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with electrical instrumentation.
- Ability to connect online to troubleshoot logic controllers and VFDs.
- Boiler or steam experience.
- Welding or fabrication experience.
- Conduit-bending skills.
- Machining skills, such as lathe, mill, or press operation.
- Industrial safety knowledge.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair machinery used in the facility’s recycled-paper-to-corrugated-box production process.
- Troubleshoot three-phase electrical systems, motors and motor starters, gearboxes, PLCs, VFDs, hydraulic systems, and pneumatic systems.
- Support the safe and effective operation of the facility.
