About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician with strong electrical, mechanical, troubleshooting, and PLC programming skills to support our manufacturing operations. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving production equipment and automated systems to minimize downtime and ensure reliable equipment performance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment, modifying PLC programs, working with HMIs, VFDs, sensors, motors, electrical control systems, and industrial machinery. In addition to PLC programming and controls responsibilities, this position will also assist the maintenance team with general maintenance activities, mechanical repairs, equipment breakdowns, preventive maintenance, installations, and other hands-on maintenance work as needed.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Experience connecting to PLCs, monitoring ladder logic, diagnosing faults, and making program changes.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Willingness and ability to perform hands-on mechanical repairs and general maintenance duties in addition to PLC programming and controls work.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and troubleshoot industrial control circuits.
  • Experience troubleshooting motors, VFDs, sensors, relays, contactors, solenoids, pneumatic systems, and automated machinery.
  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively to equipment breakdowns.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience programming Allen-Bradley PLCs, including Studio 5000, RS Logix 5000, and RS Logix 500.
  • Experience with Siemens, Automation Direct, Mitsubishi, Omron, or other industrial PLC platforms.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting HMIs.
  • Experience with servo systems, motion control, robotics, and industrial networks.
  • Experience in food, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, packaging, or other high-speed manufacturing environments.
  • Technical degree, electrical certification, industrial maintenance certification, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
  • Forklift Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated production and packaging equipment.
  • Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery and identify electrical, mechanical, and programming-related issues.
  • Connect to PLCs to monitor programs, troubleshoot faults, and diagnose machine problems.
  • Make PLC program modifications and improvements when necessary.
  • Perform PLC programming, including ladder logic, timers, counters, inputs, outputs, alarms, and machine sequences.
  • Troubleshoot and configure HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, photo eyes, proximity switches, motors, and other industrial control components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and manuals.
  • Troubleshoot 24VDC control circuits and industrial AC electrical systems.
  • Assist the maintenance team with mechanical repairs, equipment adjustments, changeovers, installations, fabrication, and general facility maintenance as needed.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production equipment.
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist with mechanical and electrical repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, modifications, and commissioning.
  • Back up PLC and HMI programs and maintain accurate documentation of program changes.
  • Work with production, engineering, quality, and maintenance personnel to improve equipment reliability and production efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and spare-parts usage.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, electrical safety requirements, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
