About The Position

INFICON is seeking a Maintenance Technician with solid professional knowledge to work independently in routine areas. This role involves selecting from alternatives and solving routine and emerging problems, owning outcomes in a defined area. The technician will be responsible for maintaining coating manufacturing equipment, including managing logs, schedules, and spare parts to minimize downtime. They will also coordinate PM schedules with engineering and materials supervisors, assist in other facilities areas as required, and perform weekly preventive maintenance on vacuum deposition systems. Key duties include replacing critical components, disassembling reactor chambers, managing refurbishment processes, inspecting and documenting equipment condition, and ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols, especially when handling hazardous materials like pyrophorics. The role requires following best practices in vacuum technology and cleanroom procedures, assisting in resolving tool-related emergencies, and collaborating with process engineers, operations, and EHS teams to improve PM procedures and system reliability.

Requirements

  • 5 years of experience as a maintenance technician preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Must have ability to use a variety of mechanical tools and use electronic test equipment.
  • Must be organized and keep accurate records.
  • Must have experience with handling hazardous materials and using proper safety protocols (ex: pyrophoric)
  • Must communicate and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
  • Will be expected to interface effectively with supervision and work in a team based environment.
  • Must be comfortable using PC's and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • May be required to lift moderately heavy instruments (up to 50 lbs) on a weekly basis and must have a reasonable level of manual dexterity.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain coating manufacturing equipment with logs/schedules/spare parts/etc to eliminate downtime
  • Coordinate PM schedules with engineering and materials supervisor
  • Assist in other areas of facilities as required with facilities supervisor
  • Perform weekly preventive maintenance on vacuum deposition systems following established schedules and intervals
  • Replace coating components and other critical parts
  • Disassemble reactor chambers and ensure the external rework and refurbishment process is properly managed and controlled
  • Inspect and document equipment condition before and after maintenance
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, particularly when handling and installing coating precursors
  • Follow best practices in vacuum technology and cleanroom procedures
  • Assist in identifying, responding to, and resolving tool-related emergencies to minimize equipment downtime
  • Collaborate closely with process engineers, operations, and EHS teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of PM procedures and system reliability
