About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and ensuring all machinery, systems, and facilities are operating efficiently and safely in compliance with food safety and regulatory standards. This role supports the smooth operation of the production line and site functionality.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, around loud equipment, and in physically demanding conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, if required.
  • Site-based role within a food manufacturing environment working in production and engineering workshop areas.
  • Ability to walk production floors, stand for extended periods, and access manufacturing areas.
  • May require flexibility to support off-shift operations, weekends, or emergency situations.
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb ladders or scaffolding for extended periods.
  • Use of hand and power tools safely and effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification or associate degree preferred.
  • 1–3 years of maintenance experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or similar regulated environment.
  • Familiarity with GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on production equipment, HVAC, plumbing, and facility infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and basic pneumatic/hydraulic equipment.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of maintenance areas and tools.
  • Monitor and maintain critical systems (boilers, refrigeration, water systems, etc.).
  • Assist with installation, testing, and calibration of new machinery and production lines.
  • Keep accurate maintenance records and complete daily logs and work orders.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, FDA, USDA and other regulatory bodies.
  • Support sanitation team during deep cleaning or shutdowns when needed.
  • Collaborate with production and quality control teams to ensure food safety protocols are upheld.
  • Champion a culture of safe working.
  • Ensure all company safety, wellness and environmental policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with OHSA (Occupational Safety and Health) and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) requirements.
  • Ensure, so far as reasonably practicable, the health and safety of workers while they are at work.
  • Ensure consultation with employees on safety and health issues.
  • Ensure operations are according to our food safety policies and processes including FDA (Food and Drug Administration) and USDA (US Department of Agriculture) compliance plus our HACCP and GMP programs.
  • Ensure control of any food safety risks.
