About The Position

Hawaiian Building Maintenance (HBM) has been providing quality service since 1957 and is one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. We are looking for a qualified candidate with industry experience to join our team. Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician will handle general maintenance and repairs of building equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance. Candidates must pass a background check, possess a valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, previous hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in basic plumbing, electrical work, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and drywall. To ensure all tasks are performed in accordance with safety regulations, proficiency must be demonstrated in the following areas: EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA compliance. Excellent communication skills and the capability to work independently or collaboratively within a team are crucial. Requirements

  • Must pass a background check.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Customer service-oriented approach.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • General maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience in creating and maintaining work orders and purchase orders.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs, including: Basic plumbing, electrical work, mechanical systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), painting/drywall and grounds maintenance
  • Ability to access compact areas that measure 18 inches by 18 inches.
  • Ensure that mechanical equipment and systems are functioning properly and perform repairs as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service when interacting with property managers, vendors, and customers.
  • Engage in constant movement, including standing, walking, bending, and stretching throughout shifts.
  • Lift, push, and pull weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds.
  • Walk and stand for extended periods and bend frequently during the shift.
  • Create and maintain work orders.
  • Create and maintain purchase orders.
  • Complete any additional maintenance-related tasks as assigned by the HBM supervisor or property management.
