About The Position

Penick Village is seeking a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. This position is responsible for maintaining the community's buildings, apartments, equipment, and grounds to ensure a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environment for residents and staff. The role involves working cooperatively with other department leaders and coworkers, accepting direction from leadership, and being able to work full-time hours with extended work hours when required. The technician will respond to identified concerns in a timely manner, create an atmosphere of open communication, and interact respectfully and collaboratively with all staff and residents. They will also provide information and tools to assist coworkers in decision-making.

  • Graduation from grammar school.
  • Three years of progressive experience in the performance of tasks associated with the assigned trades, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Working knowledge of the methods, practices, tools and materials used in the general maintenance and repair of buildings, equipment, and machinery.
  • Working knowledge of low-pressure heating and cooling equipment.
  • Ability to understand and work from sketches, work orders or penciled drawings.
  • Ability to operate the more common types of machine shop equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot appliances and work on hospital beds and medical equipment.
  • Skilled in repairing, painting walls, and ceilings.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs to the facility's equipment and systems.
  • Inspect equipment and systems to identify problems or issues.
  • Consult with the Maintenance Supervisor to identify the best solution to resolve systems or equipment issues.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure that plumbing, electrical, and HVAC systems continue operating properly.
  • Perform general cleaning tasks in the facility.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
  • Independently perform routine work based on work orders received through the online work order system.
  • Modify standard practice to suit unusual situations.
  • Troubleshoot problems as a routine duty.
  • Continuously exercise visual attention while completing tasks.
  • Periodically make precise measurements or fit together parts with fairly precise tolerances.
  • Be continuously aware of the multiple work steps in completing assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the coordination of continual maintenance of the grounds, paths, walkways, lighting, parking lots, etc. at Penick Village.
  • Attend in-service training.
  • Report all incidents/accidents to Department Leader before the end of the shift.
  • Adhere to personnel policies, safety policies and resident rights.
  • Meet employer's attendance policy.
