About The Position

Based in Highland Hts. OH, the Maintenance Tech will perform essential job functions to maintain safe, productive operation of associated Thermal Processing equipment, such as Gas Powered Integral Oil Quench Furnaces, Sealed Retort Electric Nitriding Furnaces, and 6 Bar Pressure Quench Vacuum Furnaces, at the direction of the General Manager to meet customer specifications, including assisting other employees as needed. This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage. Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures, and accept constructive criticism. Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 3-5 years industrial maintenance experience required.
  • Must possess troubleshooting skills with mechanical equipment and be analytical.
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of computer applications, including Microsoft Office and databases, is required.
  • Ability to function as an effective team member through good communication and cooperation to meet plant goals.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; must have excellent multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize workflow.
  • Actively participate in team meetings to work on problem-solving and continuous improvement of the organization.
  • Must have basic maintenance skills and be comfortable using industrial tools.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language.
  • Must be able to work in an industrial environment, at elevated heights, and in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
  • Ability to bend, pull, stoop, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, and reach to perform functions.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Visual acuity to read documents, blueprints, computer screens, files, etc.
  • Ability to hear in person and via phone.
  • This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.

Nice To Haves

  • College or technical degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the facility’s preventative maintenance program.
  • Conduct scheduled inspections of fluid levels, water flows, quench oils, filters, washer soap, and similar items; notify supervisor of issues as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment in the Maintenance Department work area; promptly clean up after maintenance and repair work is completed within the facility.
  • Assist in equipment performance testing per company-wide and manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Perform corrective actions required for out-of-specification conditions as directed by the supervisor.
  • Assist in analytical troubleshooting of issues to maintain equipment, facilities, and vehicles.
  • Accurately record and document all completed maintenance, modifications, and repairs.
  • Maintain shop copies of manuals and blueprints in a neat and organized manner; provide others with updated information as required.
  • Run company errands and pick up equipment, materials, and supplies as needed.
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Promptly report observed equipment, facility, and vehicle repair or maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Make suggestions for changes that would help the facility achieve improved efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Assist in maintaining the inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts.
