About The Position

USCS is seeking dependable, hardworking individuals with good work habits to join our team as Maintenance Technicians. The ideal candidate will minimize equipment downtime and operate the facility at maximum efficiency. This role requires someone who works well with others and is self-motivated. Refrigeration experience is required for this position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.
  • Highly skilled in building and equipment maintenance.
  • Proficient electrical knowledge.
  • Maintenance troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient welding knowledge.
  • HAZMAT trained.
  • Highly skilled in all aspects of refrigeration.
  • Understanding of electrical ladder diagrams.
  • Capable of leading a team and working independently with limited direction.
  • Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
  • Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.
  • Lift overhead when required.
  • May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or occasional standing, walking, lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and hearing are essential for safety and productivity.
  • Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
  • Overtime availability is essential due to demand.
  • Operate a registered motor vehicle as part of daily tasks.
  • Acceptable and/or correctable vision.
  • Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
  • Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
  • Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
  • Be a self-starter, able to work independently and coordinate with others.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing stress and meeting productivity guidelines.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in appearance and communications at all times.
  • Participate in staff and/or customer meetings as required.
  • Take initiative to prevent non-conformities related to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Identify and report any issues related to product, processes, and/or quality.
  • Propose and implement solutions through appropriate channels.
  • Ensure solutions are effectively implemented.
  • Follow posted security procedures at all times while in the building.
  • Participate in safety and educational training programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Continuing education in RETA and or other industry specific courses strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Complete all Maintenance Technician I and II jobs and tasks, including required paperwork, battery maintenance, general housekeeping and maintenance, troubleshooting, electrical work, welding, equipment maintenance, and other preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Handle HAZMAT responsibilities.
  • Perform RETA1 and RETA2 duties.
  • Manage engine room functions and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform electrical systems maintenance.
  • Lead, plan, schedule, operate, maintain, and repair the refrigeration system.
  • Assist the Chief Engineer with projects when asked.
  • Conduct daily inspections to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the facility's refrigeration system.
  • Assist in the execution of the PSM program.
  • Participate in emergency response training.
  • Conduct troubleshooting on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Interpret and utilize electrical ladder diagrams.
  • Lead a team.
