About The Position

Brooks Range Camp is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician III to join our Maintenance Department on Alaska's North Slope. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining critical facility systems while ensuring a safe, comfortable, and reliable environment for camp guests and employees. The Maintenance Technician III serves as the senior technician on shift, partnering with a Maintenance Technician I to provide continuous maintenance coverage. This position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, cost awareness, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service in a remote camp environment.

Requirements

  • Journeyman-level license, trade certification, or equivalent demonstrated experience in HVAC/R, electrical, plumbing, or commercial building systems
  • EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Handling Certification, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, technical manuals, and equipment documentation
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft 365 applications
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across multiple building systems
  • Ability to prioritize maintenance tasks and respond effectively to emergency repairs
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service in a guest-focused camp environment
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a remote North Slope environment
  • Ability to travel via commercial airline to and from the North Slope
  • Ability to pass: Pre-employment non-DOT drug screening, Fit-for-duty medical capacity examination, Criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BACnet or similar building automation systems
  • Prior experience in remote camp, industrial, or commercial facility maintenance
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical systems and/or possession of a Journeyman Electrical License

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair heating, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Troubleshoot gas-fired boilers, glycol loop systems, pumps, controls, and air handling equipment
  • Maintain and repair commercial coolers, freezers, kitchen equipment, and laundry systems
  • Respond to emergency maintenance issues including heating failures, water system disruptions, and sewer system emergencies
  • Troubleshoot electrical panels, motors, wiring, and building systems
  • Provide on-the-job training and guidance to Maintenance Technician I team members
  • Take immediate action to protect facility operations and guest safety during critical system failures
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs on facility systems
  • Complete advanced preventative maintenance tasks involving boilers, refrigeration equipment, electrical systems, and life safety systems
  • Ensure preventative maintenance activities are documented and completed according to schedule
  • Follow all safe work practices and company safety procedures
  • Adhere to confined space, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and working-at-heights requirements
  • Identify hazards and implement appropriate mitigation measures before work begins
  • Ensure work complies with applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company policies
  • Maintain awareness of guest and employee safety while performing maintenance activities
  • Manage and maintain the MaintainX work order system
  • Track, assign, update, and close work orders
  • Monitor parts inventory and maintenance-related expenditures
  • Coordinate parts procurement and vendor orders
  • Prepare rotation handoff notes and maintenance reports
  • Report department activity, preventative maintenance completion, and outstanding issues to camp leadership
  • Provide professional, responsive service to camp guests and staff
  • Communicate maintenance timelines and updates effectively
  • Support a positive camp experience through timely and quality maintenance service
