About The Position

As part of the talented Boston Whaler team, you will be a skilled and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician performing preventive, routine, and troubleshooting maintenance in a large manufacturing facility. Maintenance tasks performed are in a variety of skilled trade areas (fabrication, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, tool and die repair, etc.). Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of facility maintenance experience preferred
  • Documented experience in CNC programming and diagnostics, HVAC systems, and electrical maintenance
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, including experience with motor controls and ladder logic programming
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
  • Ability to fabricate components and source/order materials for open work orders and projects
  • One to three years of hands-on experience in one or more skilled trades (mechanical, electrical, fabrication), or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency using a wide range of hand tools and powered equipment
  • Ability to operate measurement and diagnostic devices (OHM/voltage meters, calipers, tape measures, and equipment gauges)
  • Must be willing and able to obtain certifications for forklift and high-lift (Genie boom) operation
  • Ability to operate additional equipment such as yard tractor, EPJ, articulating lift, and pickup vehicles
  • Physical requirements include working at heights on booms, lifts, and platforms, lifting parts and pieces up to 50 lbs., traveling up and down stairs on a constant basis, sitting, squatting, and bending in various awkward positions for certain lengths of time - including working overhead, traveling in and out of work areas, walking and being on your feet for a majority of the workday, etc.
  • Shop floor working environment. Shop floor is non-climate controlled. Temperature fluctuates with outside environmental conditions, such as air temperature, radiant heat from sunlight, air movement, and humidity levels. Frequent exposure to high-temperatures, including a hot and humid environment, especially during summer months. Noise level is moderate with intervals of spikes
  • Required to wear safety glasses, and utilize other safety equipment and personal protect equipment (PPE) while present on the production/shop floor.
  • Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, resins, fiberglass dust & cloths, epoxy, composites, and other chemicals.
  • Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of times.
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, reach, climb, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree (two-year technical degree) or equivalent experience preferred
  • Basic computer skills preferred
  • Experience with or knowledge of Lean principles such as 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Six Sigma (LSS) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of daily maintenance tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Deliver high levels of customer service while maintaining strong attention to detail
  • Complete work assignments according to daily schedules, ensuring accountability for quality and timeliness
  • Comply with all safety policies and procedures, proactively identifying risks and hazards before beginning and completing tasks
  • Travel frequently throughout the facility to support maintenance needs
  • Perform equipment mechanical repair, including CNC (Eastman and other systems), foam machines, and Plexus rigs
  • Conduct gun repair, pump repair, and air/electric reel repair
  • Perform air line repairs and air compressor diagnostics
  • Troubleshoot and repair HVAC systems, including filter changes and basic diagnostics
  • Complete dust collector filter replacements
  • Perform basic CNC, crane, forklift, and HVAC diagnostics
  • Conduct basic forklift repairs
  • Manage trash runs and general facility upkeep
  • Perform lawn maintenance and basic plumbing repairs
  • Install safety equipment per specifications
  • Conduct safety lighting inspections and manage fire alarm systems
  • Fill propane tanks as required
  • Utilize mPulse maintenance system (basic use to strong proficiency expected)
  • Support preventative maintenance tracking and documentation
