About The Position

The Facilities Operations Department within Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire a Maintenance Tech II, PWT. This role is responsible for providing essential support for the operational maintenance and sanitation of campus buildings to provide a safe, functional, clean, efficient, and attractive living and learning environment. The position is responsible for troubleshooting issues and providing service for and responding to customer and staff requests. The employee must have basic maintenance repair skills and perform basic housekeeping tasks at this level.

Requirements

  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).
  • Position requires a valid Class E driver’s license.
  • May be required to participate in respiratory, medical examination and training in use of respirators.
  • All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H‑1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience performing general building maintenance.
  • Basic knowledge of custodial cleaning techniques and chemicals.
  • Experience working in a campus, institutional, medical, hospitality, or similar environment, with an understanding of facility operations and maintenance procedures.
  • Experience with inventory management, including tracking materials and tools.
  • Ability to operate and maintain maintenance tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of facility-related issues independently.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers and team members, operate electronic equipment (iPad for Integrated Work Management Systems PM checkpoints), comprehend standard safety procedures, and utilize telecommunication devices.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to safety standards in all aspects of maintenance work.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, managing multiple tasks with a high level of organization.
  • Familiarity with building automation systems and Integrated Work Management Systems (IWMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform planned and scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and PM repairs (PMR)
  • Perform corrective work defined as restoring equipment, or a space, to a proper working condition. It involves identifying, isolating, and resolving non-critical building and equipment issues.
  • Maintain and replace light bulbs, HVAC filters, ceiling tiles, and unclog & service plumbing fixtures.
  • Conduct basic housekeeping tasks, including but not limited to vacuuming floors, cleaning windows, and removal of trash/recyclables.
  • Assist with work performed by central shops, contractors, other zones and departments, or with events on campus.
  • Complete work orders in a timely manner.
