About The Position

The Maintenance Technician II performs preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on all production equipment and systems within the facility. This individual is fully competent to perform duties independently. The role requires the ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and repairs, develop and implement basic maintenance projects, and find ways to cut costs within the department. A proactive approach to identifying and correcting potential problems is essential. The technician must follow safe manufacturing practices, adhere to UAI 5S manufacturing practices and the UAI employee handbook, and be able to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. Accurate time recording using the data collection system is also required. Additionally, the role involves general building and grounds maintenance, mastering the use of all required equipment, inspecting and cleaning equipment, performing all preventative maintenance, and having the authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detected. Recommending the purchase of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies is also part of the responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • 2+ years of maintenance or equivalent experience.
  • Pass D1.1 weld test.
  • Must be familiar with metal fabrication concepts and processes.
  • Must have experience with maintenance of fabrication equipment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos.
  • Moderate CSI skills – modifying SRO’s, looking up past P.O.’s., orders, etc.
  • Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% minimum.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers and employees.
  • Ability to apply commonsense and understanding to carry out detailed and written or oral instructions.
  • Must perform all duties in conjunction with UAI and ISO requirements.
  • Frequently required to work on equipment that may contain live electrical parts, high pressure vessels/piping and spring loaded apparatuses.
  • Ability to read, comprehend and implement lock-out tag-out procedures is required.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds with an assist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and skilled repairs on all production equipment and systems.
