About The Position

Bio-Rad Laboratories is seeking a Maintenance Technician II to support its manufacturing plant, which produces customized Genomics (PCR), Immuno-Multiplex Assays (BioPlex), BioEducation (Special Manufacturing), and Proteomics (Precast) products. This role is part of the Manufacturing team—a multidisciplinary group of scientists and engineers focused on advancing innovative technologies and driving continuous improvement across the consumables manufacturing site. In this role, the technician will collaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to define infrastructure requirements and product specifications. The position plays a critical role in ensuring that process equipment, instrumentation, and automation systems are well-integrated and operating efficiently, enabling smooth manufacturing operations and a seamless experience for both internal and external users. The equipment environment is diverse and includes customized automated robotic systems, bioreactors, lyophilization systems, semi-automated fill lines, and dispense systems. Instrumentation spans sensors, motors, control valves, and temperature, pressure, and speed transmitters. Automation platforms include Allen-Bradley RSLogix, ControlLogix/CompactLogix, AutomationDirect HMIs, and PLC-based control systems.

Requirements

  • High school/trade school diploma, GED, or equivalent (e.g., ITC/NTC and above).
  • 2+ years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good knowledge of methods, practices and procedures in one or more craft areas.
  • Ability to follow detailed written or oral instructions.
  • Proficient with tools and equipment common to the trade.
  • Common courtesy, tact and discretion.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment to resolve maintenance issues.
  • Knowledge of PC, MS Office, and basic software.
  • Must be licensed if required by law.

Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections, troubleshooting, testing, and repairs on plant machines, equipment, and structures.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance and suggests improvements to maintenance processes.
  • Sets up and operates tools and diagnostic equipment for maintenance tasks.
  • Interprets and works from blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, and specifications.
  • Operates within quality and safety standards and documents work using CMMS.
  • Under the direction of Engineering or upper level maintenance associates, may assist in equipment installation and production start ups.
  • May provide basic training to junior personnel.
  • May coordinate providers of contracted repairs of equipment, cleaning, security, and HVAC mechanical.
  • Develops equipment maintenance SOPs for new production and/or facility/utility equipment and updates maintenance SOPs as required.
