About The Position

TRU Community Care is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician II to help keep our facilities safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role serves as a lead maintenance technician by performing repairs and preventive maintenance across multiple skill areas, including general building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, flooring, equipment repairs, and other facility needs. The Maintenance Technician II is responsible for always maintaining assigned facilities in good repair, completing work orders and preventive maintenance tasks, and communicating with facility leadership regarding repairs, safety concerns, and potential operational disruptions. This position may also support emergency response needs, special events, and other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of general maintenance experience.
  • Experience across multiple maintenance trades (Ex: plumbing, electrical, HVAC, appliance repair, painting, tile, drywall).
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair common building, mechanical, and facility issues.
  • Basic phone and computer skills, including email and texting.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively in an environment serving older adults and their families.
  • Experience reading blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); TELS experience highly preferred.
  • Experience mentoring or training other maintenance technicians.
  • Relevant trade licenses, certifications, or specialized training.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to successfully pass agency-required background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repairs in areas such as mechanical equipment, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, painting, flooring, electrical, appliances, and general building maintenance.
  • Complete routine facility tasks such as changing light bulbs and filters, installing paper dispenser units, changing locks, repairing furniture, and maintaining nurse call, intercom, CCTV, railing, window, wheelchair, and other facility systems and equipment.
  • Perform work within the scope of training, experience, applicable licenses, and regulations.
  • Use the computerized maintenance management system (TELS) to generate, complete, and close work orders and preventive maintenance tasks. Pull, prioritize, and schedule assigned work orders and PMs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs for assigned facilities, including emergency generator checks, fire alarm system checks, water temperature checks, equipment lubrication and cleaning, call light checks, and ventilation filter cleaning or replacement.
  • Keep maintenance shops, storage areas, tools, equipment, radios, inventory, and supplies organized and in good working condition.
  • Identify and correct unsafe working conditions with management oversight and perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Follow company safety and risk management policies, attend required training and safety meetings, and report accidents or injuries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and professional appearance, wear TRU Community Care-provided uniforms, and wear appropriate non-slip work shoes or boots.
  • Assist with mentoring and training lower-level maintenance technicians and provide temporary maintenance leadership when needed.
  • Support special events, emergency response needs, and other maintenance-related activities as assigned.
  • Use basic cleaning and maintenance chemicals safely and according to established procedures.
