About The Position

Forsyth County's Park and Recreation Department has a great opportunity to work in an outdoor environment in western Forsyth County. Tanglewood Park is seeking a motivated individual that would be interested in working in a part-time year-round Maintenance Technician I position. This position performs duties associated with park maintenance operations and will have direct interaction with park patrons and will provide information and instruction to guest that are utilizing park facilities and assist with requests to ensure that facility is acceptable for rental period. Responsible for operation and general maintenance of a variety of small equipment. Work shifts and schedules will be varied due to seasonal operational requirements: January - March: Monday-Thursday 7:00 am - 12:00 pm April - October: Monday-Thursday 7:00 am - 2:30 pm November - December: Thursday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED
  • Some experience in basic building or grounds maintenance work
  • A valid driver's license is required
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees
  • Ability to follow written and oral instruction
  • Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
  • Ability to independently adhere to a time schedule
  • Ability to maintain order and ensure compliance with rules
  • Ability to operate and care for power equipment and hand tools
  • Ability to inspect and report needs for repairs
  • Ability to regularly lift 50 pounds

  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered for minimum qualification requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties associated with maintenance of park grounds such as mulching, mowing, line trimming, backpack blowing, spreading gravel, repair fencing, leaf removal, snow removal, trail maintenance and general grounds maintenance tasks.
  • Provide information and instruction to guests utilizing park facilities and assist with requests to ensure facilities are acceptable for rental periods.
  • Assist maintenance staff with completion of small projects and work requests such as picnic table repair, staining, fencing, painting, maintaining public picnic shelters, cleaning public restrooms, replenishing public restroom supplies, trash removal, pet waste stations, pressure washing, cleaning of public grills, lock and unlock access gates and facilities.
  • Assist with duties associated with special event preparations and clean up.
  • Assist with the installation and dismantling of light displays for the annual Festival of Lights.
  • Responsible for operation and general maintenance of a variety of small equipment.
  • Perform all related work as required.
