The Maintenance Technician I is responsible for executing predictive, preventative, and breakdown maintenance procedures. This role involves selecting, installing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical, electrical, process, and support equipment and systems. The technician will support production by troubleshooting and repairing equipment failures, using gauges and test instruments to diagnose malfunctions, and fabricating and installing new equipment. Welding, repairing, and fabricating parts and equipment are also key functions. Daily inspections of plant equipment and process/packaging systems are required, ensuring proper execution before startup. The role utilizes a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for work orders and procedures, and requires effective communication of equipment deficiencies to the facilities engineer/manager and co-workers. Collaboration with the entire maintenance team and larger site operations team is essential for smooth operations. Responsibilities also include assisting with parts inventory, requisitioning equipment and supplies, maintaining housekeeping standards, implementing safe work practices, providing emergency assistance off-hours, participating in the HAZMAT team, and directing outside contractors as needed. Continuous learning through industry associations, vendor training, and continuing education is encouraged. Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
