About The Position

Performs semi-skilled work in the construction, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer utility lines and taps. Other duties as assigned. Applicants must possess the ability to perform heavy manual work for extended periods outdoors in varying climatic conditions. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, minimum age of 18 and a valid NC Class "C" driver's license.

Requirements

Read, write and Perform Basic Mathematical calculations

Work a flexible schedule including holidays, weekends and during inclement weather on an as needed basis
Perform routine assignments with a team
Work independently or with teams to perform routine assignments
Occasionally operate light equipment
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of NC for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18
Valid NC Class "C" driver's license.
Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.
Successfully passed a "Functional Prework Screen" administered by a professional and impartial third-party specialist.

Ability to operate a dewatering pump, tamp and various hand tools.
Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle

Responsibilities

Conducts traffic control at jobsites; operates crew vehicle
Installs water and sewer taps, services, and mains.
Assists with loading the dump truck.
Locates underground utilities.
Assists in the repair of water main breaks.
Assists in the installation and repair of water meters, hydrants, valve boxes, water valves, mains, and manholes.
Performs jetting functions to clean lines.
Performs building maintenance duties.
Patches utility road cuts.
Ability to operate a dewatering pump, tamp and various hand tools.
Ability to operate a manual transmission vehicle
Performs other related duties as assigned.
