About The Position

This position is primarily responsible for ensuring that the employee’s assigned building's lighting and plumbing systems are maintained to manufacturer's specifications as well as the organization’s maintenance standards. This role provides maintenance support for high-security commercial spaces with federal government tenants. Applicants must either possess an active federal security clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo the vetting process. U.S. Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility. The successful candidate must be able to pass a comprehensive federal background investigation and fingerprinting process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to develop basic addition and subtraction.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Knowledge of tablets, smart phones, and software associated with work order and maintenance programs.
  • Must be able to use a shop vacuum, drills and saws.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive federal background investigation and fingerprinting process.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Active Federal Public Trust (or equivalent) is highly preferred.
  • Willing and eligible to undergo the vetting process for a federal security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains assigned building’s lighting and plumbing systems, assuring that equipment is maintained in an energy efficient and safe manner.
  • Complies with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
  • Recognizes danger and safety hazards and proposes methods to eliminate them.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of common hand tools used for routine maintenance and repair of lighting and plumbing systems.
  • Communicates findings in the performance of assigned work with supervisors and fellow employees and documents maintenance and repairs made to the above mentioned systems.
  • Maintains working knowledge of lock out/tag out equipment.
  • Responds to tenant and client requests in a professional manner.
  • Issues unable to be resolved are reported immediately to a supervisor.
  • Responds effectively and promptly to all emergencies.
