Position Overview We are seeking a motivated and dependable Maintenance Technician Level 1 to join our team. This entry-level role is a great opportunity for individuals looking to start or grow a career in property maintenance. You will gain hands-on experience while supporting the upkeep of our apartment communities working alongside experienced technicians, learning valuable trade skills, and contributing to safe, clean, and well-maintained living environments for residents.
Requirements
- High school diploma required
- Less than 2 years of full-time experience in maintenance or a related trade (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, drywall, masonry, etc.)
- Basic problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong willingness to learn and follow direction
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Basic familiarity with tools and mobile technology (smartphone/tablet)
- Customer service mindset and ability to interact professionally with residents
- Dependable, team-oriented, and adaptable
- Must have use of a vehicle to regularly travel to Community Corp. properties, hardware stores, and supply stores within the service area
- Valid California driver’s license and required insurance
- Must maintain a satisfactory driving record and consent to DMV pull report
Nice To Haves
- Certifications in plumbing, electrical, or HVAC are a plus
Responsibilities
- Track and complete assigned work orders daily using Yardi
- Communicate professionally with residents when scheduling and performing work
- Prepare tools and materials needed for assigned tasks
- Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general upkeep)
- Assist senior technicians with more complex repairs and learn proper techniques
- Accurately document completed work in Yardi
- Maintain organization of tools, equipment, and materials
- Observe property conditions and report issues proactively
- Ensure incomplete tasks are documented and communicated for follow-up
- Participate in inspections, installations, and minor repair projects under supervision
